Special Events and Demonstrations - 2010 Joe McConnell will be giving carving
demonstrations on both Saturday and Sunday at the following events: Renton River Days at River Park - July 23 - 26 Sammamish Art Fair - Sammamish City
Hall, Sammamish, WA - October 9-10 Class Information The first class project for beginning students involves carving a classically inspired design on an alder plank. The class starts with an introduction to woodcarving skills and and how they can be used or modified to create contemporary NW Native art. We also look at the Native culture and how the art form was developed. Students are encouraged to their native art treasures to class. The classes are 3 hours each week for 8 weeks. Class size is limited to 8 students and are filled on a first come, first enrolled basis. The class fee is $180 and the basic
tools cost about $50.
